Water
Water meters are read electronically for billing once a year in May. The water is billed on June 1st each year and due in 60 days. Penalties accrue after this time and any unpaid water bills on May 1st will be relevied to Village taxes. Outside users are subject to termination of service for unpaid bills. The Village has the equipment to read meters throughout the year to assist in leak detection. If your meter shows a “potential leak”, we will notify you so that you can research any problems that can be corrected to save money as well as conserve water.
Should the Village impose any water restrictions, they will be posted on the Community Board at the entrance to the Village on Maple Road.
Annual Water Report
Click on link at the bottom of this page to access the Village's annual water report. Remember the report deals with the testing of water done during the previous year. (ex: the 2012 report is for testing in 2012 but the report is issued in 2013)
The hardness of the Village water is 21 grains.
The water rates are as follows:
$130.00 minimum, paid in advance, which covers the first twenty five thousand gallons used. (Out of Village property rates are doubled). New annual rate beginning June 1, 2013 will be $150.00.
Use over the initial 25,000 gallons will be billed as follows:
$2.75 Usage 25,001 to 75,000 gallons
$3.00 Usage 75,001 to 150,000 gallons
$3.25 Usage 150,001 to 225,000 gallons
$3.50 Usage 225,001 to 300,000 gallons
$4.00 Usage 300,001 to 375,000 gallons
$4.50 Usage 375,001 to 450,000 gallons
$5.00 Usage 450,001 to 525,000 gallons
New Users
Fee for water tap $1000 (outside users are double)
Sewer
The Village maintains 2 sewer districts. Sewer District #1 serves Salem Hills and some residents along Maple Avenue, Mountainview Street and Swift Road, as well as the Voorheesville Elementary School. Sewer District #2 serves some homes on Pleasant Street. Residents are billed for an entire year but payments may be paid in quarterly installments. The due dates are: July 31, October 31, January 31 and April 30. Any outstanding bills after April 30 will be relevied to Village Tax.
