During
the Spring and Summer the DPW will deliver a load of mulch
(approximately 1 ˝ yards) for $25. Please stop by
Village Hall to pre-pay.
Garbage Pickup is
every Wednesday, please have your brown trash can out at the
street by 6am.
Items to be
recycled should be in the green bin opposite the trash
container. (glass containers, tin cans and plastic
that does not crack when squeezed). Corrugated
cardboard should be flattened, no pizza boxes please.
No paper products should be placed in the bin.
Newspapers
should be placed in a brown bag next to the recycling bin.
Magazines & catalogs should be bundled with string and
placed next to the recycle bin.
Junk mail,
office paper and other high grade paper should be in a
plastic bag next to the recycling bin.
Brush will
be picked up as time allows. Branches should be placed
at the curb with the cut end of the wood facing out.
The pieces can be long, but not more than 10 inches in
diameter. Wood that contains nails or staples should
be placed separately so we do not put it through the wood
chipper.
In the
spring, other lawn debris must be in brown bags. In
the fall, leaves will be vacuumed when left at the curb.
ALL
OTHER items
should be disposed of properly. The Town of New
Scotland Transfer Station is open on Saturdays throughout
the year and on Wednesdays from May through September.

Water
meters are
read electronically for billing once a year in May.
The water is billed on June 1st each year and due in 60
days. Penalties accrue after this time and any unpaid
water bills on May 1st will be relevied to Village taxes.
Outside users are subject to termination of service for
unpaid bills. The Village has the equipment to read
meters throughout the year to assist in leak detection.
If your meter shows a “potential leak”, we will notify
you so that you can research any problems that can be
corrected to save money as well as conserve water.
Should
the Village impose any water restrictions, they will be
posted on the Community Board at the entrance to the Village
on Maple Road.
The
hardness of the Village water is 19.5 grains.
The
water rates are as follows:
$90.00
minimum, paid in advance, which covers the first twenty
five thousand gallons used. (Out of Village property
rates are doubled).
Use
over the initial 25,000 gallons will be billed as follows:

Usage 75,001 to 150,000 gallons

The
Village maintains 2
sewer districts.
Sewer
District #1 serves Salem Hills and some residents along
Mountainview Street and Swift Road, as well as the
Voorheesville Elementary School. Sewer District #2
serves Pleasant Street. Residents are billed for
an entire year but payments may be paid in quarterly
installments. The due dates are: July 31,
October 31, January 31 and April 30. Any outstanding
bills after April 30 will be relevied to Village Tax. |
